An Ode to Great Teachers
An Ode to Great Teachers
Back

I was recently asked by Yosi Sergant to participate in a high-profile art show called RE:FORM SCHOOL, taking place in NYC on October 8th-11th.
RE:FORM SCHOOL is an exhibition focusing on education reform and what needs to happen to make the classroom a safer, more nurturing place for students. It's also about showing gratitude for the educators who are doing so already!
For my piece, I'm celebrating the greatness of inspiring teachers. I've been so blessed to go to school in an environment where teachers encourage creativity and condone self-expression. It is my deep hope that all students in the public school system can be inspired and encouraged by such educators.
It's time to celebrate the beautiful teachers in the world! I tip my hat to all of those I've encountered along my way, and all of those I have not.

This piece is currently a work-in-progress and will be paired next to a typographic illustration. I wanted to "go all out" with my materials for this piece... I used supplies that I would have loved in grade school... really tapping into my inner child :)
22x30" Acrylic, watercolor, collage, glitter, rhinestones, gold leaf & flocking powder on arches coverstock paper.
